Anonymous Donor Gives $150,000 for Yakima Park Renovations

YAKIMA, WA. -- The City of Yakima is getting ready to make some big renovations to Randall Park. And it's all possible thanks to two anonymous donations.

It really is a feel good story. If you've visited Randall Park lately, you can tell things are getting worn down.

The city says they always struggle to get enough funding to upgrade these parks. Well one family called and said they wanted to help out by donating $50,000!

That was back in September. Now the city has received another call. And guess what? The anonymous donor wants to give $100,000 more! City leaders say renovations to Randall Park are long overdue.

"We've been hearing from different citizens how excited they are to that we're going to make some improvements to Randall Park," Ken Wilkinson said. "It's due. It's time. It's time for a face lift. This park is over 40 years old and it needs some help."

The anonymous donor simply said they love Randall Park and they are calling on everyone to match their $100,000 donation. The City of Yakima has used this capital combined with some of their own and grant money to plan a one million dollar renovation.

That one million dollar plan will include upgrades to the playground, the pond and the basketball courts.
