BREAKING: Jury Finds Marco Gallegos Guilty in Yakima Canyon Double Murder

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA. -- Marco Gallegos sits behind bars Friday afternoon, convicted in the double murder of Michael Eby and Ryan Pederson.

This experience has been a nightmare for the families of Michael Eby and Ryan Pederson. When the judge read the guilty verdict for Marco Gallegos, they hugged each other, smiled but also cried. Their emotions were strong after the man who brutally shot Eby, and forced another to shoot Pederson, was finally brought to justice.

Gallegos was convicted on all 5 counts; two aggregated murder one charges, 1 second degree murder, 1 felony murder and 1 unlawful possession of a firearm.

We talked to prosecutor Troy Clements who said he hopes this can help the victims families in their grieving process.

"For the Eby family and Pederson family, I'm glad that there's justice for them," Prosecutor Troy Clements. "It won't bring back their loved ones, but this helps starts the process of closure for their families."

The defense attorney told us that they expected this outcome and they will appeal the ruling based on a speedy trial issue.

Gallegos will be sentenced on October 7th. With the serious nature of his crimes, he will most likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

We spoke to the family of the victims. They did not want to go on camera for fear of gang retaliation. They did tell us that they are very happy with the outcome and they believe justice has been served.
