RICHLAND, WA- The Nomad Trail Runners of Eastern Washington hosted a 6k a 10k trail run Saturday at Chamna National Preserve in Richland.

The Nomad Trail Runners of Eastern Washington started planning the race in the Spring and wanted to make this race different from others by serving beer and root beer to runners after they finish.

The club saw a need for trail runs in the area and wanted to make it happen.

“There's a group of us trail runners.  We met every Saturday to run and started to realize there wasn't a whole lot of trail races here.  We have a road running club.  They put on some good road runs, but there wasn't a lot of trail runs so we decided to change that,” said race director Janson Sloughter.

Organizers said they had more than 100 participants.

They said it helped to raise money for the club and they hope to gather a bigger crowd next year to share the profits with other organizations.
