Recent Wolf Attacks Kill Eight Sheep, Two Dogs in Umatilla County

Posted: Updated:
PENDLETON, OR - Two recent wolf attacks have killed eight sheep and two livestock-protection dogs in Umatilla County.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says the attacks took place on September 15th and 16th on public grazing land near Ruckle Junction north of La Grande.

Wildlife agents say a GPS radio collar documented that Mt. Emily pack wolf OR28 was at the scene of the attacks.

The 72-pound female black wolf (pictured here) known as OR28 is the first radio-collared wolf in this pack. The Mt. Emily Pack was first discovered in 2013 and is comprised of four known adult wolves.
