RICHLAND, WA – WSU Tri-Cities held their fall career fair on Thursday on the WSU campus in Richland. NBC Right Now's own Shane Edinger was one of the many representing area businesses that are growing and looking for prospective employees. KADLEC, Amazon, Costco and Energy Northwest were just some of the many options students and job seekers had to explore.
More than 700 students and community members attended Thursdays job fair, hoping to see a positive and growing outlook on today's job market.
Scott Koopman, the Manager for Career development at WSU Tri-Cities, planned this event with a team looking to benefit their student body and community members alike. Koopman said Thursday “so right now we have several engineering majors… civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering as well as a computer science major. All of those are in demand in this area, course all the stem fields are in demand. We have an aggressive science especially biological science program, so we have a lot of students who are looking to get into environmental science, then on into graduate school. Looking at medical school/nursing… a ton of those kinds of jobs”.
We reached out to WorkSource who also confirmed that these jobs are in demand as well as bi-lingual skills, commercial truck driving and supervisors of retail stores.
