RICHLAND, WA- Saturday morning people met at Badger Mountain to bring awareness to Breast Cancer and to “rise above” it.

Walkers carried pink bio-degradable balloons to the top of the mountain to show their strength and support for Breast Cancer survivors and those still fighting it.

“If you have to walk up that mountain based on the fact that you hear you have cancer, it's helpful to know there are people here with you that are going to make that walk with you.  We're going to conquer that mountain and we're going to be on top of that mountain and the pink balloons are going to fly,” said Jody O'Connor, representative for Hospital Systems for American Cancer Society.

Each balloon released cost $5 and the Northwest Cancer Clinic matched each donation.  Those proceeds went toward the non-profit organization Focus on Cancer, which supports free mammograms.

Last year the organizers saw nearly 150 walkers and raised over $2,000.
