PASCO, WA- A viewer has an unusual beehive in her backyard that is quite uncommon.

This viewer's pictures show how the beehive is open in the center, but it is layered in more of a zigzag shape than the typical oval shape.

“Sometimes the bees will swarm and when they do, they'll land on a branch then they'll go out and find some place.  If they can't find any other suitable place to build a hive,” said Richard Carpenter with the Mid-Columbia Beekeeper's Association.

Carpenter said he has not seen a beehive similar to the one in the viewer's backyard, but he said this type of beehive was probably built recently and would be suitable for the summer.
