State Representatives Tour Trios Health Hospital

Posted: Updated:
Some state representatives took a tour of the brand new Trios Health Hospital in Kennewick Thursday.

Afterwards, they sat down with doctors and hospital administrators to discuss problems health care facilities are dealing with.

Some of the issues include the need for more programs and trained staff for mental health care eliminating extra layers of bureaucracy that don't ultimately help the patient and getting more doctors to smaller areas of the state through residency programs.

"We have 1,500 slots to 1,600 slots, 1,400 of those slots are in the Seattle area, the rest have not been filled, so there are things that we need to be looking at and hopefully we'll be able to solve those this next legislative session."

Another issue brought up was cutting down on paperwork so doctors can spend more time with their patients.
