REACH OUT! Event Gave Locals A Chance To Connect With Human Services

It can sometimes be hard for low-income families to find readily available services, but Friday in Kennewick there was a one-stop shop to connect people with providers. KENNEWICK, WA - It can sometimes be hard for low-income families to find readily available services, but Friday in Kennewick there was a one-stop shop to connect people with providers.

The Reach Out! event made it fun and easy for people in our area to get connected to medical, housing, transportation and other services. It's an event put on by the Department of Human Services with help from many sponsors and community contributors.

Families could bring their kids to enjoy fun games, face painting and even free rides on the Carousel of Dreams while the parents met with representatives from each agency.

"Kind of makes life easier in this one spot so that they don't have to go all over the community and for people to learn about the services they might not know exist because we do have a lot of really wonderful providers in our community and a lot of wonderful services and we want to get that out there," said Linda Robb from the Benton-Franklin Department of Human Services.

While it wasn't the first Reach Out! event in our area, this was one of the biggest with more activities available. The organizers explained they wanted it to be a fun experience for everyone that came.
