Breast Cancer Fundraiser Donates Thousands to Local Research

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA. -- Breast cancer awareness month is rolling right along and Monday marked one of the biggest fundraisers for it in Yakima.

Pink is the color of the day at the 7th Annual Suncom Breast Cancer Fundraiser. They're looking to raise over $4,500 and they're getting very close to that goal!

The good people at the Suncom 9-1-1 dispatch center have teamed up with the Ohana Mammography Center from Memorial Hospital. They have a lot for people to get excited about. There's a 50-50 raffle, plenty of baked goods and more than 30 raffle prizes for people to win.

I got my eye on the Seahawks bin with all kinds of Hawks goodies. Organizers of the event say they couldn't be happier to help raise money for breast cancer research.

"It's great," Stacey Garcia said. "It's really good to know that we've been apart of the success story. Our goal, just the same as everyone else, we want to see this cured, we want to see this no longer existent."

If you want to help out, there's still time!

They'll be open until 7pm Monday night. Come on down. It's across the street from the police station.
