Sacajewea Elem. Teacher Wins Classroom Makeover

Posted: Updated:
RICHLAND, WA - School is back in session, which means it's time for another classroom makeover.  On Thursday, we took our cameras to Sacajewea Elementary in Richland where we surprised Chris Ruge.

Mrs. Ruge teaches the special needs class of 4th and 5th graders at Sacajewea.  We presented her with a $250 check from Kadlec Regional Medical Center for classroom supplies.  Mrs. Ruge says the relationships she builds with her students and their families make all the hard work worth it.

"I have an opportunity to work with them not just for one year, but for multiple years.  So we all become family. I've been to parents' weddings, and been involved in aspects outside the school with my family because we stay in touch all the time," Ruge said.

If you know a teacher who deserves some recognition and a classroom makeover, you can nominate them on our website.  Just head to and click on "Classroom Makeover" under the "Community" tab.
