Yakima Valley Kennel Club Hosts Annual Dog Agility Competition

Posted: Updated:
UNION GAP, WA.- The Yakima Valley Kennel Club hosted its annual dog agility show this weekend.

People gathered from all over the Pacific Northwest to test their dog's skills.

There was no shortage of dogs and dog lovers at Fullbright Park in Union Gap this weekend.

Over two hundred dogs were entered into the competition this year.

The dog agility competition has been taking place right here in the Yakima Valley for over a dozen years.

People from Spokane, Oregon, Montana, and even as far away as Alaska have made the journey to have their dogs compete.

Event organizer Jan Farley told KNDO they have a unique blend of dogs enter each year.

“Any breed can do this if you think your dog cant do it and even if you think they are just a couch potato, any breed can do this it just takes a lot of discipline and it's a lot of fun to work with your dog,” Farley said.

Farley says they have all different types of breeds that range from Afghan Hounds to Yorkshire Terriers.

The event wrapped up Sunday afternoon but competitors worked towards qualifying scores that will enable them to move on to bigger invitational competitions across the country.
