Toppenish Man in Jail After Brief Standoff with Police

TOPPENISH, Wa.- A man from Toppenish is in jail after a brief standoff with police on Tuesday night.

38-year-old Joel Trujillo was wanted on robbery and assault charges.

Toppenish Police learned Trujillo was inside a home on Washington Avenue and Ivy Street. They surrounded the home and asked Trujillo to come out but he refused.

Officers called in the Yakima Police Department SWAT Team who later convinced Trujillo to surrender peacefully.

Police arrested him and booked him into the Yakima County Jail.
