BENTON COUNTY, WA - A viewer informed us of a possible scam so we did some digging. Recent reports of suspicious door-to-door salesmen have come from across the region.

Multiple reports have come in of a diesel generator sales operation that is coming off as questionable. Once we heard about it NBC Right now asked Benton County deputies if they had seen anything. Over the past 24 hours more reports of the truck with name brand “Volvo” and “DeWalt” stickers have been reported as suspicious.

They're going door to door with the diesel generators saying they can offer some great deals because they just returned from a tradeshow. One local woman googled some of the things they mentioned and found blog posts about a scam near Seattle that sounded similar.

"They approach you and you're out of your element and you think, 'oh, those numbers sound great!' It happened over a few days so it was like, 'everyday they were coming back from a tradeshow and had to unload this gear?' I don't think so," explained Teresa Owen from Benton City.

So far neighbors in the Benton City area and in Pasco have contacted authorities about the salespeople. While deputies say they are not sure if they've have done anything illegal, the fact that multiple people find them questionable raises concern. They say they're working to make contact to confirm they are a legal business.
