Yakima Valley Electric Railway Gets Ready For Halloween

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA.- It's still about a week away from Halloween, but some people are getting a jump-start on the festivities.

The Yakima Valley Electric Railway had a special family event on Saturday; their annual Halloween trolley rides.

The trolley's shut down until Christmas after this event, but from ten to three Saturday afternoon kids were able to experience guided tours from costumed staff.

Trolley director Karl Pasten told KNDO they had a wide range of people attend.

“This is truly a family event, kids love Halloween and kids love trains, actually the older people love it to because many of our people here used to ride the trolleys because they've been here since 1907,” Pasten told us.

Tickets were five dollars and kids received a free pumpkin, candy, and hot apple cider after their ride.

The trolleys will reopen two weeks before Christmas, when they'll have their annual Santa trolley rides.
