KENNEWICK, WA- Power 99.1 collected bras donations all month long to stretch them across the Cable Bridge from the Kennewick side to the Pasco side as their way to raise awareness for Breast Cancer.

It was the first year for “Bras Across the Bridge” and they collected over a thousand bras to stretch the more than 2,000-foot long bridge.

The idea came after gunner from Power 99.1 lost his mother-in-law to Breast Cancer.  They wanted to do something creative and something the Tri-Cities had never seen.

“It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and you should save you “ta-ta's” and get them checked. We said, ‘let's get a whole bunch of bras. Alright, well what are we going to do with the bras? You know what, let's string them across the cable bridge,'” said Reka Robinson, radio personality with Power 99.1.

Volunteers tied the bras together before stretching them across the bridge.

Power 99.1 will donate a dollar to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center for every bra donated.

After the bras were taken down, they were donated to Lourdes and Domestic Violence Services in Kennewick.
