Tieton Community Celebrates Mexican Tradition

TIETON, WA.- People in Tieton celebrated the day of the dead or "Dia De Los Muertos" today with a vibrant annual festival.

Event organizers created an alter exhibit that had pictures of the community's loved ones who have passed away.

The event is a Mexican tradition that honors those who have died in the form of a celebration.

The event featured cultural dances and music, food and arts and craft activities for families.

“For us it's a celebration of life through celebrating death so it has always been beautiful and colorful, we have music and dancers and the community really appreciates this,” event organizer Aurora Torres told KNDO.

The Mighty Tieton Warehouse has been putting on the event for the past five years.

Hundreds of people took part this year and they even had an artist from Seattle come and create a sand mural in honor of the day.
