RICHLAND, WA - When NBC Right Now met with the Sanders family and their close friends Tuesday each and every one of them said Dick was funny, personable, full of life and embodied the word of love. Now they are coming together to share these memories of a man who never seemed to age.

Dick Sanders was a youth pastor in the Kennewick community for most of his life, he even built the majority of the Cathedral of Joy which is now transitioning into Hillspring Church.

Monte Ingersoll is a close family friend of the Sanders and Dick was his youth pastor as well. He told NBC Right Now, "When he spoke about who God was, he spoke with passion. You could almost see his heart beating out of his chest. He had such a love for God and a passion in his heart."

Ingersoll remembered Dick Sanders as, "A legend in our community in terms of the way he impacted people. Thousands of hospital visits, hundreds and hundreds of weddings and funerals, the guy always spoke with compassion and love for people."

Sanders created a waterfall in the sanctuary of Hillspring Church, a beautiful landscape to see. Baptisms, weddings and Sunday service take place there. His family said he was such a perfectionist that the pine needles that are in the water now would probably drive him crazy.

Lisa Campbell and her husband were married by Sanders, she remembers that moment with a picture, "There's a great picture of my husband and I standing at the altar looking at each other and he's there. I don't even remember what happened but he said something and it just cracked us up. So there is this picture is of us laughing at the wedding."

His youngest son Darrell said all the memories he has of his father are full of laughter. He said that Sanders even remodeled his entire kitchen, now it is one of the best reminders of his dad and how much he always wanted to help.

"Whenever you had a birthday, my daughter mentioned this on facebook, you got a card from him and it was always half the card was a personalized note. Not general, something specific, on how you touched his life and how much you meant to him. There's a big hole, big hole in my heart, we'll get through it."

Sander's family said he would not have liked all this attention his life is getting now, but that is why he deserved this.
