Battelle Gives $1,000 Grant to the Coats for Kids Program

KENNEWICK, WA - Our Coats for Kids drive is now in full swing and today we got a nice boost from Battelle.

The company that runs Pacific Northwest National Laboratory gave the Salvation Army a $1,000 grant to go shopping for coats.

Walmart helped out by offering a 10% discount.

"The Salvation Army applied for a grant from Battelle and received $1,000 towards the Coats for Kids program.  We're here today buying a lot of coats but we still are in dire need of many more coats for the children this winter," says Ana Avila with the Salvation Army.

The grant was able to buy almost 60 coats.

The Salvation Army says they've already given out hundreds of coats so far this season and they still need more donations to keep the program going.
