NBCRightNow.com - Immigration attorneys in our region say they have been busy lately.

They say they are answering lots of questions about President Obama's Executive Action on immigration.

Attorney, Thomas Roach says he has gotten hundreds of calls and dozens of appointments from people wanting to know how they can prepare to apply for the executive action on immigration.

This plan, announced by Mister Obama back in November, would give around 4.5 million undocumented people across the nation a work permit and valid social security number. If they meet certain requirements. They must also have a clean criminal record.

Roach says the application for the larger program for parents of citizen children who have been continuously in the country for the past five years will be available in May.

The application for the expanded Deferred Action program for undocumented youth should be available next month.

"They should be gathering their documents because when this thing goes off, it's going togo up like a roman candle. It's going to be absolute chaos, 4.5 million people trying to squeeze though the snake at the same time," Roach said.

He wants to warn people interested in applying for the program of scammers. He says don't trust anyone telling you they can send the application for you now, it is not even available yet.

Roach says several organizations and churches have contacted him asking him to give presentations.

He says 90,000 people in our area would qualify and there is a lot of interest.

Roach will be giving a presentation in Spanish at St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Pasco this Sunday January 11th at 3:00 p.m.
