YAKIMA, WA.- Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies received a call around 10:45 on Tuesday, after a dead body was discovered behind a house west of Yakima.

When they arrived, they found the body of 23-year-old José Silva with multiple gunshot wounds.

We learned today that just a half hour before that call Silva's mother had filed a missing person's report with Yakima PD.

Sheriff's deputies were later able to identify Silva after reviewing the missing person's report.

"A citizen had called in and said he had located what could be a body, a human body, so deputies responded and confirmed it was a deceased male," Mike Russell with the Yakima Sheriff's Office told KNDO.

A cable electrician working on the property made the call to police.

According to Yakima PD, Silva had a criminal record and he was well known among officers.

We were able to track down Silva's family, but they didn't want to speak on camera.

There are currently no suspects in custody.

The Sheriff's Office is still investigating and asks that anyone with information regarding the case call the Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers.
