WALLA WALLA, WA. – The Walla Walla Sweets continue to add players to the roster for the upcoming season of West Coast League baseball. The team announced today the addition of Chris McCready and Darren McCaughan.

Darren McCaughan is a 6-foot 1-inch, 175-pound right-handed pitcher from Downey, California. McCaughan is a 2014 graduate of Los Alamitos high school, and a freshman for the Long Beach State Dirtbags. As a senior at Los Alamitos, he posted a 3-3 record, and was an All-Sunset League first team selection.

Darren is a fierce competitor and will see significant innings in 2015 for the Long Beach State Dirtbags,” said Sweets manager Frank Mutz who has previously coached McCaughan. “He has great command of the strike zone and is capable of pitching through adversity.”

Chris McCready, a native of Valencia, California, and a graduate of Valencia high school. McCready is a 6-foot 1-inch, 175-pound freshman outfielder at Long Beach State. As a senior in high school, McCready appeared in 17 games and posted a .383 on-base percentage. As a junior he hit .341 with 13 RBI.

Chris is a tremendous athlete with blazing speed, and will most likely see time in centerfield and in the leadoff spot,” added Mutz, who has coached McCready the last two summers. “Not only are we getting a very talented player, we are getting a great young man.

Opening Day of the Sweets 2015 season is scheduled for June 5, 2015 against the Medford Rogues.
