KENNEWICK, WA- The 8th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Event was Saturday evening, hosted by the African American Community Cultural and Educational Society and WSU Tri-Cities at the Three Rivers Convention Center.

The event saw nearly 250 people and organizers said it was good for the community to recognize Dr. King's message.

"Such a diverse community needs to hear and see his message and how people are living up to it," said Leonard Moore, AACCES Chairman of History of Recognition.

The event had former NBA Seattle Super Sonics' basketball coach Lenny Wilkens as the keynote speaker with musical guests and recognized some local organizations for their service to the community.
