Machete Wielding Suspect Arrested after Several Hour Standoff

ELLENSBURG, WA -The Ellensburg Police Department says a woman wielding a machete is in jail after a several hour standoff Sunday in Ellensburg. 

Misty Fischer, 38, from Ellensburg was booked into jail on recommended charges of Felony Harassment, Assault DV and Resisting Arrest.

Police say at  8:15 Sunday morning Officers responded to a threats report in the 1800 block of North Chestnut Street. 

The victim reported the Fischer threatened to shoot her then came out of the house swinging a machete. 

Once officers arrived police say the Fischer barricaded herself inside the house and started breaking out windows and throwing items out of the house. 

After several hours of attempts to negotiate with Fischer officers  entered a second floor window using a Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue ladder truck.

Police say they used less lethal weapons (taser and bean bag rounds) to disarm Fischer of the machete, then she was then taken into custody. Police say no officers were injured during the incident.
