Wenatchee Man Pulled Over with $10k in Counterfeit Seahawks Jerseys

PHOENIX, AZ - Arizona Department of Public Safety officers pulled over a Wenatchee man Thursday and discovered about 100 counterfeit Seahawks jerseys in his vehicle.

Officers called in federal agents who confirmed the merchandise was counterfeit and worth about $10,000. The man, whose name has not been released, was not arrested. It was a civil seizure.

The Department of Homeland Security has been operating an ICE Super Bowl office in Arizona since the state won the Super Bowl bid. Agents have been working with local law enforcement to keep an eye out for Super Bowl related crime, it being such a big draw and big money event. Many people look to capitalize on the success illegally.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement is involved because of customs. Typically, counterfeit goods are made overseas, illegally imported and then transferred over state lines.

The Wenatchee man could potentially face state charges but none federally.
