Local Patriots Get Together to Cheer on Superbowl Bound Seahawks

Posted: Updated:
SUNNYSIDE, WA. -- Some local Patriots got together to show their support for the Seahawks on Tuesday. A group of American Legion Veterans performed a small skit they put together for the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl run.

The group says their Patriots because they're veterans, but their Seahawk fans through and through!

They hope this event can raise awareness for their continuing fundraising to build the largest veterans memorial in the Pacific Northwest.

"We're the real Patriots!" Greg Schlieve said. "And we're the ones building this veterans memorial and who do we support? The Seattle Seahawks! And we just kind of wanted to get that message out, have a little fun with it and bring some attention to our memorial at the same time."

The group says they still have 40 memorials they have to erect to complete the monument. Each wall costs about $15,000 apiece.
