YAKIMA, WA-- The City of Yakima has come out with their budget for 2015 and city officials plan on spending millions on improving the city. They are planning to spend more than $26 million on city infrastructure, and also plan to spend several million dollars on both public safety and economic development this year.

The big projects the city will focus on are at the airport.  City officials want to spend more than $12 million to repair the taxiway.

They also want to spend $3.5 million on the Cascade Mill site next to Interstate 82.

Public safety is also getting a big chunk of money, the city plans to add two more police officers, relocate their communication center and complete renovations to the SWAT communication building.

Another area they plan on spending money is partnerships with entertainment venues in Yakima like the Capitol Theatre and Convention Center.
