Chief: 20 Identified as Part of Pendleton Supremacist Gang

Posted: Updated:
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - Pendleton police say they've identified 20 members of a white supremacist gang in Eastern Oregon and have filed charges against a number of them. The charges include assault and conspiracy to commit murder.

Chief Stuart Roberts says that officers are nearing the end of an effort to arrest those considered the most dangerous in the United Aryan Empire.

Roberts says the organization has roots in a prison gang, and gang conflict is behind a large fight in October and gunshots aimed at houses late last year.

He says police have arrested seven people, including one member of a Latino gang. Warrants are out for two more people, and police expect at least one more indictment.
