YAKIMA, WA-- Police in Yakima have came up empty handed after the weekend as they continue to investigate the murder of 25-year-old Elidoro Navarro. Officers are still working hard to find out what happened on S. 7th Street in Yakima.

Navarro died after he was shot around 9:00 Thursday night, but that is where the trail ends.

Mike Bastinelli from the Yakima Police Department said even though Navarro did have ties to gangs and where the shooting took place was in gang territory, what led to the shooting may not have been gang related at all.

"Just because someone is involved with a gang, or just because someone has some gang affiliations in the past, that doesn't necessarily mean that this particular act of violence is related to that affiliation," Bastinelli said.

The last gang-related shooting in the City of Yakima happened last fall, but the department is not taking any chances and right now the gang-unit is working with police to find whoever did this and if more people were involved in this shooting.

Bastinelli also said that is a little more difficult now because witness interviews did not match up.

During the initial interviews witnesses said they saw a dark colored car leave the scene of the shooting, now they are getting reports from witnesses that a light colored car was at the scene when Navarro was gunned down.
