WALLA WALLA, WA - The newest member of the Walla Walla Police Department is now officially certified for active duty.

K-9 "Pick" is a 2 year old, female, Black Lab and is trained only in drug detection and alerts on odors from Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and Heroin.

Pick, who got her name as being the "pick" of the litter, will live with her partner, Officer Gunner Fulmer, who has been the K-9 handler at the police department for the past 6 years.

Fulmer's previous K-9, a 9 year old German Shepherd named "Rev", retired at the end of last year.

Rev was a valuable asset to the police department and will be able to live out his retirement with Fulmer.

Rev had a successful career, credited with finding a total of 13 pounds of Marijuana, 4 pounds of Methamphetamine, and smaller amounts of Cocaine and Heroin.

His searches aided in the seizure of 27 guns and about $40,000.
