PASCO, WA- The ex-wife of Zambrano-Montes and his two daughters have filed a damages claim against the City of Pasco and the officers involved in Tuesday's shooting.

Teresa De Jesus Meraz Ruiz filed the claim with the Trejo Law Firm Friday.

George Trejo, who is Meraz-Ruiz' lawyer spoke with NBC Right Now about the action in which they plan to sue for $25 million dollars.

In the document, the law firm says Zambrano-Montes was killed "execution style" and was "no danger to the three officers".

"Well they could come back with, good faith negotiations and attempt to settle this case, but apart from the monetary aspect of this case, what we'd like to see be done is these officers charged criminally," explained Trejo.

The city has 60 days to respond or can deny the claim at any time. When either of those things happen, the lawsuit can move forward. Until then, Trejo said it is a waiting game.

Trejo said Zambrano-Montes' family is "distraught" over the shooting.

George Trejo has worked on similar civil rights cases before, including the Rodney King case.
