One Dead After Officer Opens Fire on Man with Gun In Boise

Posted: Updated:
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Authorities in southwest Idaho say a man is dead after pointing a weapon at a Boise police officer and another officer opened fire.

Boise Police Department spokeswoman Lynn Hightower says it does not appear that the officer's shots struck the suspect. A cause of death hasn't been released.

The shooting occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Monday after officers responded to a report of a man with a crowbar breaking windows at a residence.

Police say they heard shots and investigators say evidence indicates the man fired from the residence.

Police say officer Jason Green tried to speak to the man but the man pointed a gun at an arriving officer and Green opened fire. Green wasn't injured.

The man in his middle 20s was later found deceased in the residence.
