Pasco Community Fills Catholic Parish for Mass Held In Memory of Antonio Zambrano

Posted: Updated:
PASCO, WA. -- Family, friends and community members Tuesday held a mass to remember Antonio Zambrano at St. Patrick's Catholic Parish in Pasco.

More than a thousand people filled the church for the ceremony. We kept our camera outside the event in respect for Zambrano's family.

Inside the service, people prayed for peace in the community. After the ceremony was over, we spoke with Father Steven Werner who led the mass focused on peace, justice and forgiveness.

"Justice is also tempered by mercy and love," Father Werner said. "And that's kind of the heart of the message. That yes we want peace and peace means working for justice and in our case, especially praying for justice."

Father Werner says this mass was for the community of Pasco to heal as a whole. He hopes that the family can pray for the three Pasco Police Officers who opened fire on Zambrano. He says that is the best way they can heal.
