YAKIMA, WA. -- Yakima Police are investigating after a body was discovered Wednesday morning next to the Naches River. Police identified the man as 51-year-old David Nagle of Yakima. A man walking along the Greenway near 16th Avenue and Highway 12 saw the body in a small pool of water around ten Tuesday morning. Yakima Police Spokesperson Mike Bastinelli says they are investigating the death as a homicide but are exploring other possibilities.

"You know, we're treating it as a homicide," Bastinelli said. "Our detectives are now processing the scene. We just don't know the cause of death. It very well could have been an accident. There was camp nearby. So this gentlemen could have been camping and had an accident."

Police believe the body had been lying in that spot for more than just a day, although it's unclear how long it had been there before being discovered.
