YAKIMA, WA – The Yakima Valley Pippins announced the return of UC Irvine catcher Alex Guenette to the team for the 2015 season on Wednesday afternoon.

Guenette is a sophomore at UCI.  He played in 31 games with the Pippins last summer, hitting .299 with a home run, 4 doubles and 12 RBI. The right-handed hitter from Carlsbad, California is the third member of the 2014 roster to rejoin the Pippins this season, after the team announced that left-handed pitchers Mitch Yada and Kelly Fitzpatrick would be back as well.

“Although Alex joined us about halfway through the summer in 2014 (due to UC Irvine making the College World Series), he made an immediate impact on arrival,” said Pippins Manager Marcus McKimmy. “He is an incredible leader behind the plate, handles a pitching staff extremely well, and will again be counted on to be the heart and soul of our defense. Alex has an incredible desire to be a winner and I couldn't be more excited to welcome him back to Yakima this summer.”
