YAKIMA, WA-- The City of Yakima may need to find a new city manager soon because current city manager Tony O'Rourke is one of seven finalists for the same job in Sedona, Arizona. O'Rourke has only been Yakima's city manager since 2012 and was scouted by someone to fill the city manager spot in Sedona.

Randy Beehler works closely with O'Rourke and said even though there are a lot of projects the city manager is involved with right now if he left, it would not cause a delay in progress.

"One of the things that tony has also done while he's been here is put into place a really strong senior staff and I'm certain that the council has confidence that quality senior staff will be able to carry these projects forward even if tony should happen to leave,” Beehler said.

Some of those projects include the downtown plaza, the Boise Cascade mill site and the revitalization of North First Street.

O'Rourke will head to Arizona next month for several days of interviews.

Beehler said O'Rourke is considering the job because it would take him and his wife closer to family.

He also added that O'Rourke is not sure he would take the job if it is offered to him.
