PASCO, WA - A local organization that claims they want justice for the death of Antonio Zambrano is getting closer to having their voices heard by the federal government.

Consejo Latino says they are still waiting to hear back from U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder about their request for a federal investigation.

They sent a letter last him to look into the shooting death of Antonio Zambrano.

Felix Vargas, a leader of the group says they have not heard back from the Attorney General but he did speak with a U.S. Attorney in Spokane who told him Holder has not received the letter yet but he is familiar with the situation.

He told Vargas the Department of Justice may consider the case.

Consejo Latino is working to set up a meeting with the U.S. Attorney in Spokane when he is in town for meetings next week.

"He understands the gravity of the situation here, he gave me his complete assurance that the department of justice would give this request its due consideration. They take it with great seriousness he said," explained Vargas.

Vargas is also contacting Governor Jay Inslee to work on ways to get Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson involved.

He is also sending a letter to U.S. Senator Patty Murray to help get the Justice Department working on this case.
