Yakima Man Arrested for Posting Threats Against HS Coach on Facebook

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA - Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man for making threats on Facebook against a high school basketball coach.

Deputies say the coach become aware of the threats after being told about them by other Facebook users.

The threats were apparently posted by the parent of a female student athlete from another High School and were made in response to the coach's complaints of aggressive behavior exhibited by their student daughter during basketball games.

Deputies were able to identify the parent through the Facebook posts that referenced that the coach would be harmed by unknown parties.

The man has been booked into the Yakima County Jail on charges of felony harassment.

Deputies say all of the school districts involved cooperated in the investigation.

The Yakima County Sheriff's Office wishes to stress that incidents involving our local schools are of the highest priority, and also encourages people to be aware of the dangers involved with misuse of social media.
