Consejo Latino Continues to Make Progress, Meets With Dept. of Justice

PASCO, WA- Consejo Latino has met with the Department of Justice to discuss matters about the officer-involved shooting of Antonio Zambrano.

Chairman Felix Vargas said the letter the Consejo Latino sent the U.S. Attorney General last week asking for a separate investigation, was viewed Saturday in Washington, D.C. at a Department of Justice meeting.

Sunday, Consejo Latino met with a D.O.J. official based in Seattle, who will stay in Pasco for the next few days meeting with Police chief Bob Metzger.  The official plans to have a conciliation meeting between the chief, Consejo Latino and possibly members of the Zambrano family.

On Wednesday, Consejo Latino will meet with Michael Ormsby, U.S. Attorney for Eastern Washington.

Vargas said they plan to talk with Charles Herrmann, the new attorney for the Zambrano family, representing the wife. 

Vargas said the DOJ has promised to stay in contact with Consejo Latino during their next few steps.
