KENNEWICK, WA- The Tri-City Water Follies has been awarded "Race Site of the Year" at the Annual Unlimited Hydroplane Banquet.

The Tri-City Water Follies Board of Directors received the award at the H1 Annual Awards Banquet at the Seattle Aquarium this past weekend.

Steve David, the H1 Chairman said, "The Tri-City Water Follies site was chosen based on readiness of the facilities when the boat race teams arrive, courtesy extended by the Tri-City Water Follies staff and volunteers, continuity of the volunteer team, energized media support and local sponsor support.”

This year also happens to mark the 50th Anniversary of Unlimited Hydroplane racing on the Columbia River.

Mike Denslow, on the Water Follies Board of Directors, accepted the award and expressed his excitement for hosting the APBA Gold Cup saying, "all of our great volunteers, dedicated leadership and generous sponsors are poised to present the most spectacular event the circuit has seen!”

The 2015 HAPO Over the River Airshow and HAPO APBA Gold Cup is scheduled for July 24th-26th, 2015.
