White Pass Ski Area Gets Ready for This Weekend's Winter Carnival

Posted: Updated:
WHITE PASS, WA - The 29th Annual White Pass Winter Carnival will take place this weekend, February 28th and March 1st.

With this season's questionable snow pack below 4,500 feet, ski area crew members were concerned about having enough snow to be able to construct the signature castle.

Fortunately, colder night time temperatures have allowed for aggressive snow-making and the castle will be available in the base area for snow play and tubing throughout the carnival.

The theme for this year's Winter Carnival is an homage to Dr. Seuss, so get your Thing 1 or Thing 2 costumes ready.

White Pass has also added an 80's Snowboarder Reunion to the weekend's festivities.

White Pass was home to the first generation of Pacific Northwest Professional Snowboarders and legends like Brian Lund, Bruce Mullenix, and Wilbur Kelly will be on hand to do some riding and reminiscing with the public on Saturday.

The Winter Carnival also plays host to the Children's Miracle Network's Ski 4 Kids event.

This 2-day ski and snowboard clinic and race event provides an opportunity for intermediate level riders ages 6 - 12 to learn about racing on Saturday, then experience their first race on Sunday.

Proceeds benefit the Children's Miracle Network.

All base area events are free and open to the public.
