MABTON, WA - The Department of Labor and Industries has been contacted to conduct an investigation after a man died in an accident operating a front end loader Wednesday morning.

Yakima County Sheriff's Office  says a 27 year old Mabton man had been operating a front end loader next to a waste pond  on the 1100 block of Vance Rd.

Deputies say the left wheels of the loader went off the shoulder to the pond causing the loader to fall over onto its' side and submerge in about six feet of waste water.

The loader had an enclosed cab and the man was not able to free himself.

The man was found dead once officers arrived to the scene.

The operator's body was recovered and released to the coroner's office.

No criminal activity was suspected.

The deceased's next of kin have been notified.

No names are being released at this time.
