Pasco City Council Finalizes New Voting Districts, Approves Regional Dispatch Center

PASCO, WA - New voting districts are set in the city of Pasco. The City council approved a redistricting plan by a vote of 6-1 on Monday night at their meeting.

State law requires that each district needs to be as close to equal as possible in population with no more than a 10% difference. The Council held several public workshops and meetings on the matter and considered the demographics in each district so Pasco's sizable hispanic voice can be heard.

Another hot topic on the agenda: Council members unanimously approved an interlocal agreement for the creation of a shared 911 call center in the Tri-Cities. It would be called the "Multi-Agency Three Rivers Information and Communication Services," or MATRICS.

Each city must approve the agreement in order for it to move forward. Kennewick's City Council plans to vote in at next at their Tuesday night meeting.
