Richland Libraries Offers Streaming Service for TV Shows and Movies, All for Free!

Posted: Updated:
RICHLAND, WA. -- Starting Monday, your Richland library card will get you much more than just books.

The library has teamed up with a streaming service called Hoopla. Richland residents will now be able to access 5,000 movies, 1,000 TV shows and much more, all for free!

Library workers say this service will help keep them relevant in a changing digital marketplace. But even they never expected to see a library using a streaming service.

"No!" Ann Roseberry said. "Oh no I started with card catalogs. I started hand typing library cards."

The service also provides books on tape and music that people can stream. Hoopla can be accessed anywhere in the country. On computers, tablets and even a mobile app.
