Hispanic Leader Visits Local Senators in Washington D.C. About the Pasco Police Shooting of Antonio Zambrano

Posted: Updated:
PASCO, WA -  A local Hispanic leader who has been on the forefront of the recent Pasco police shooting has made it all the way to Washington D.C. demanding justice.

Felix Vargas met today with Washington senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell asking for help in getting the Department of Justice involved in the Antonio Zambrano case.

Vargas said he is thankful for their time and he's hoping they can urge the DOJ to investigateThe Pasco Police Department much like they did recently in Ferguson, Missouri.

He says there are systemic issues The Pasco Police Department should address and this is a good time to do that.

I think we have two senators who want to do what they can to help and they were gracious of their time and calendars in order to meet with me. i think that in itself is an indication about how seriously they view the incident and how seriously they take our concerns.” said Felix Vargas

Vargas said he is hoping to get a meeting with an official from The Department of Justice.

Also when asked about prosecutor Shawn Sant's response to step away from the case, Vargas said he's disappointed to hear Sant has refused to step down and that Consejo Latino has another planned course of action.

We posted Sant's full response on our website earlier today if you'd like to read that. http://bit.ly/1GVhphp
