Walla Walla VA Visits Local Veterans In Yakima

Posted: Updated:
YAKIMA, WA.- The Walla Walla VA made it's way to Yakima Tuesday afternoon to speak with local veterans about health care concerns and answer questions.

It was a packed housed at the VFW post on 5th Avenue; officials from the Walla Walla VA come down to Yakima on occasion for town hall meetings. Many of the veterans were able to ask questions regarding restructuring in the system and how smoothly it will go.

But for one local WWII veteran, he told us he doesn't have faith in the system, he's spent years dealing with endless amounts of paperwork and denied claims from the VA, and now he feels forgotten.

“We got a broken system, broken bodies, broken minds, there's no worse tragedy than being forgotten and that's exactly what they've done to us and they're going to continue to do it,” Howard Hanson, a local veteran, explained.

The Walla Walla VA Medical Center Partnered with the Veterans Benefits Seattle Office for the question and answer session on Tuesday.
