Yakima Police Make An Arrest in Wednesday Afternoon Bank Robbery

UPDATE: Yakima Police have arrested a man in connection with a bank robbery at 40th and Nob Hill Wednesday afternoon. 

A tip from a citizen led police to a motel at 1608 Fruitvale Boulevard where 42-year-old Eugene Lorenz was apparently staying. 

Yakima Police Officers arrived and Lorenz tried to run but was taken into custody nearby.  

He faces a charge of first degree robbery and was scheduled to appear in Yakima County Superior Court Thursday.


PREVIOUS/ YAKIMA, WA.- Police are investigating after a man robbed a Central Valley Bank on the corner of Nob Hill Blvd. and 40th Ave. around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Yakima Police say the man went into the bank and passed a threatening note to a teller and demanded money.  According to police he was not carrying a weapon, but he did get away with an undisclosed amount of money.

“He fled the scene on foot and then we got the call and when officers arrived we checked the area using the K-9's to try to track down the suspect, but at this time he's still not in custody,” said Mike Bastinelli, with the Yakima Police Department.

Surveillance video shows the suspect is a thin, white man.  He was wearing a baseball cap and glasses, a grey hooded sweatshirt with a blue coat over it and blue jeans.
