JUST ASK SHANE: What's Happening with the Empty Lot by the Blue Bridge?

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, WA - If you drive over the Blue Bridge much, you've probably wondered about this question yourself.  Elisa sent me an email asking, "Just curious about what's going on with the land on Columbia Drive by the Blue Bridge?  It used to be a trailer park and now it's all cleared out.  Do you know what the plans are?"

Elisa... that is the $64,000 question.  But first, a little history about the project.  Three Tri-City men purchased the 22 acres that used to be home to the Clover Leaf trailer park for $3 Million back in 2013.  They spent the next year removing all the trailers and clearing out all the trees.  But since then... nothing.

The property owners met with Kennewick's community development office in 2013 to discuss possibilities, but the city hasn't had any contact with them since then.  But they're ready to help whenever the owners are ready.

"Absolutely, we are always ready from an economic development standpoint, and from a community planning standpoint to meet with our development community, to meet with property owners on how they could develop their land," said Evelyn Lusignan, spokesperson for the City of Kennewick.

As a gateway into Kennewick, the city is excited about the possibility of restaurants, a hotel, or some wine-related businesses on the property.  We tried to make contact with all three of the landowners, Steve West, Jim Bullis and Corey Bitton, but none of them returned our calls.

Remember, if you've got a question about something going on in our community... send it my way.  You can reach me in the newsroom at (509) 737-6738, or send me an email at JustAskShane@nbcrightnow.com
