YAKIMA, WA.- Kids from all over the Yakima Valley got to put on their hard hats and hop in the drivers seat Saturday afternoon at the first annual Dozer Day at the Central Washington State Fair Grounds.

The Central Washington Home-builders Association introduced an event geared towards helping kids learn to better understand how construction equipment is run and used in different careers.

Event organizer Carly Faul told us this is the first event of it's kind in the Yakima Valley and they're excited by the turn out; they expecting to see hundreds of families at the fairgrounds this weekend.

“You know it's pretty amazing I've had so many people thank us for bringing this event to Yakima and that's what it's all about the smiles on these kids faces as they're getting on the equipment and going for a ride and all of the neat stuff they're able to do here,” Faul said.

Kids not only got to hop in the driver's seat of dozers but there were also fire engines, tractors, and ambulances.

Event organizers said they hope to teach kids about equipment safety and potential career opportunities for the future.

If you didn't have a chance to make it out to dozer day they'll be out at the fairgrounds again on Sunday from 11 to 4.
