Tri-City Americans Announce WHL Playoff Schedule

KENNEWICK, WA - The Tri-City Americans are pleased to announce their First Round schedule for the upcoming 2015 WHL Playoffs.
Tri-City will match-up with their B.C. Division rivals, the Kelowna Rockets, in the opening round, best-of-seven series.  The two teams met last season in the playoffs, with Kelowna defeating Tri-City 4-1 in the first round. The two teams met in 2010 when the Americans advanced to the Conference Finals following a 4-1 series win. The two sides also met in 1996 (Tri-City, 4-2), 2004 (Kelowna, 4-2) and 2009 (Kelowna, 4-2), with Kelowna holding a 15-13 post-season advantage in the overall series. This season, Kelowna took the 4-game season series vs. the Americans, 3-1.

Games 1 and 2 will be played at Prospera Place in Kelowna, starting on Friday, March 27.  The series will then shift to the Toyota Center for Games 3 and 4, which are scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1 respectively. Game times are 7:05 p.m.  Fans are encouraged to check the Americans' website, www.amshockey.com, in the coming days for further playoff information.

 Individual playoff game tickets will go on sale starting at noon on Monday, March 23 through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Toyota Center box office, and all Fred Meyer outlets.

      The Tri-City Americans (2-1-1-0, 4 pts) never led against the Kamloops Blazers (0-5-0-0, 0 pts) until the third period, as Beau McCue’s third period tally was the difference as the Americans won 4-3 in front of 3,195 at the Sandman Centre on Wednesday night.

      The Tri-City Americans started the game with five goals, followed by the Seattle Thunderbirds (1-1-1-0, 3 pts) scoring five goals to even the score. Parker Wotherspoon netted the game winning goal in overtime to give the Americans a 6-5 win in front of 3,011 at the Toyota Center on Sunday night.

      Tri-City Americans’ Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced Friday that 20-year-old forward Beau McCue has been named Team Captain, along with teammates Brandon Carlo, Parker Wotherspoon, Parker Bowles and Taylor Vickerman named assistant captains for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

      The Tri-City Americans have traded forward Ty Comrie to the Vancouver Giants for a conditional third round draft pick in next year's WHL Bantam Draft.
